Pre-market: Deb Shops same-store sales fall
Shares of Philadelphia, Pa.-based retailer Deb Shops, Inc. (Nasdaq: DEBS) are moving up despite news this morning that comparable store sales decreased 4.7% in April 2007 as compared to April 2006. Shares are up $0.28, or 1.03%, to $27.35.
International communications services provider iBasis, Inc. (Nasdaq: IBAS) reported this morning that its first-quarter revenue increased. Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $145.8 million, compared to $110.8 million for the first quarter of 2006. Analysts were expecting revenue of $147.23 million. Shares are up $0.12, or 1.12%, to $10.79.
Shares of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based stun gun manufacturer TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR) are gaining ground following a recommendation of the stock after Wednesday’s close by TV personality Jim Kramer on his CNBC show. Shares are up $0.06, or 0.66%, to $9.16.
Boca Raton, Fla.-based Nabi Biopharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: NABI) narrowed its net loss from continuing operations in the first quarter of 2007. The net loss for the quarter ended March 31 was $10.7 million, or $0.17 per share, compared with a loss of $15.5 million, or $0.26 per share a year earlier, the company said after Wednesday’s close. Shares have added $0.58, or 11.28%, to $5.72.
Shares of Westerville Ohio-based insurance holding company ProCentury Corp. (Nasdaq: PROS) are up following news after Wednesday’s close that earnings met expectations. Reported net income for the quarter ended March 31 was $5.4 million, or $0.40 per share, exactly what Wall Street expected. The net income for the first three months of 2006 was $4.6 million, or $0.35 per share. The stock has gained $0.57, or 2.66%, to $22.02.
Tarrytown, N.Y.-based EpiCept Corp. (Nasdaq: EPCT) will present new data on its pain-killing drug NP-1 at the 26th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Pain Society in Washington D.C. today, the pharmaceutical company said after Wednesday’s close. Shares are down $0.07, or 2.34%, to $2.92.
