Dividend Watch: Two Stocks Upping Their Dividends Tomorrow

Ian Wyatt

Here are two stocks that are upping their quarterly dividend payouts as of tomorrow:

  • Waste Management (NYSE: WM): My colleague Jason Cimpl picked Waste Management as his favorite stock of 2012. Now the company’s upping its dividend by another penny per share. Tomorrow the payout will increase from 35.5 cents to 36.5 cents – the company’s first dividend bump since November 2011. Waste Management already boasts a generous yield of 3.8%.
  • Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN): The department chain is upping its dividend by three cents tomorrow, increasing a rather meager yield of 2.2%. Investors haven’t exactly been flocking to Nordstrom on news of the higher dividend – shares are down 1.6% in the last month.

Also, one other company that isn’t increasing its dividend payout but is going ex-dividend tomorrow made a major move today. Gold Resource Corp. (NYSE: GORO), one of the largest gold miners in the world, advanced more than 5% on the eve of its next quarterly dividend payout.

GORO is maintaining its six-cents-a-share monthly dividend payout. The 7.7-point rise in gold prices today may have had something to do with GORO’s ascent, as other gold miners also made big moves today.
