EMCORE up on $24 million solar-cell order
EMCORE Corp. (Nasdaq: EMKR), a maker of compound semiconductor-based components for communications systems, announced early Wednesday morning that it received a $24 million order for concentrator solar cells from Australia-based Green and Gold Energy Co. The order is scheduled to be shipped by the end of calendar 2008.
"We are very pleased to receive this follow-on order from Green and Gold Energy," said David Danzilio, EMCORE’s vice president, in a statement. "This 105 MW production contract confirms EMCORE's position as the leader in concentrator cell technology and high volume manufacturing.”
In pre-market trading, shares are up 2.31%, or $0.20, at $8.85. Over the last 52 weeks, shares have ranged between $3.84 and $9.91.
