GenVec publishes pre-clinical research that may lead to cancer cures
Shares of GenVec, Inc. (Nasdaq: GNVC) jumped in pre-market trading after the biopharmaceutical company announced this morning that it has published pre-clinical research demonstrating the selective delivery of TNF-alpha to tumors.
The paper, which is titled “Experimental Treatment of Ovarian Cancers by Adenovirus Vectors Combining Receptor Targeting and Selective Expression Of Tumor Necrosis Factor,” includes results of the firm’s research that adenovectors used in the study may provide the basis for a potentially safe and effective treatment for cancers of the peritoneal space, including ovarian and stomach cancers.
Specifically, the study found that using a targeted adenovector with selective regulation of gene expression achieved a high degree of anti-tumor activity.
Shares of GenVec (GNVC) rose $0.27, or 11.11%, to $2.70 in pre-market trading.
