Pre-market: DXP Enterprises posts strong quarter

Shares of Houston-based oil and gas equipment provider DXP Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: DXPE) are up following news after Tuesday’s close of strong first-quarter financial results.  Net income for the first quarter ended March 31, was $3.7 million, or $0.65 per share, compared with $2.5 million, or $0.44 per share a year earlier.  Wall Street was looking for earnings of $0.61 per share.  Shares are up $1.43, or 3.34%, to $44.23.

Branchburg, N.J.-based tissue-based products maker LifeCell Corporation (Nasdaq: LIFC) has gained ground on news this morning that revenue for the first quarter ended March 31, was $42.7 million, a rise of 40%, compared with $30.5 million in the same period a year earlier.  Shares are up $0.35, or 1.28%, to $27.63.

Shares of Norwalk, Conn.-based industrial products maker Bolt Technology Corporation (AMEX: BTJ) are flat despite news this morning of a rise in sales.  Sales for the three months ended March 31, 2007, were $12.73 million, a 51% increase compared with $8.42 million a year earlier.  Shares are trading at $35.80.

Shares of SuperGen, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUPG), a pharmaceutical company based in Dublin, Calif., are lower despite news this morning that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared one of its drugs for a first-in-human Phase I clinical trial.  Shares are down $0.05, or 0.66%, to $6.75.

Shares of New York-based 24/7 Real Media, Inc. (Nasdaq: TFSM) are in negative territory following news this morning that the digital marketing company may be purchased by advertising company WPP Group.  The stock is down $0.03, or 0.35%, to $8.47

Boise, Idaho-based American Ecology Corporation (Nasdaq: ECOL) is up following news this morning of strong quarterly financial results.  Net income for the first quarter of 2007 was $4.9 million, or $0.27 per share, 18% more than net income of $4.2 million, or $0.23 per share, in the first three months of 2006.  Analysts were expecting quarterly earnings of $0.22 per share.  The stock has gained $0.32, or 1.58%, to $20.56.
