Pre-market: Hoku Scientific inks $185 million contract

Kapolei, Hawaii-based clean energy company Hoku Scientific Inc. (Nasdaq: HOKU) announced after Wednesday’s close that it has signed a $185 million contract with German solar power company Solar-Fabrik AG for the sale and delivery of polysilicon over a seven-year period beginning in the second half of 2009. Shares are up $0.74, or 11%, to $7.69.

Shares of Telestone Technologies Corp. (Nasdaq: TSTC) are trading higher following news this morning that the Chinese wireless communications company has been chosen as the official provider for China Mobile, which is building test networks in eight cities. Telestone will be allocated no less than 10% of the wireless equipment orders in the network building in Beijing and Shanghai. Shares are up $0.90, or 13%, to $7.80.

IDM Pharma Inc. (Nasdaq: IDMI) will sell 7.1 million shares of its common stock to investors for a total of roughly $23.5 million in net proceeds, the Irvine, Calif.-based company said this morning. Its stock is down $0.77, or 19%, to $3.37.

Neurochem Inc. (Nasdaq: NRMX) has received a third recommendation from the European regulators to continue its ongoing Phase III clinical trial of the Alzheimer’s drug tramiprosate, the Canadian biopharmaceutical company said this morning. Shares are up $0.25, or 4%, to $7.40.

Thermage Inc. (Nasdaq: THRM), which makes medical devices for the treatment of wrinkles, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Alma Lasers Ltd. and Alma Lasers Inc., alleging that a total of ten patents have been violated, the Hayward, Calif.-based company announced this morning. Shares are up $0.45, or 5%, to $8.65.
