Pre-market: Inspire Pharmaceuticals gets FDA nod

Shares of Durham, N.C.-based Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISPH) are trading higher following news after Friday’s close that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the company’s treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, a type of eye infection.  Shares are up $0.53, or 7.74%, to $7.38.

Richmond, Calif.-based Sangamo BioSciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: SGMO) is down on news this morning that it has entered into a research and license agreement with Genentech, Inc. to evaluate and potentially use to generate cell lines with novel characteristics for protein pharmaceutical production purposes.  The stock is down $0.03, or 0.39%, to $7.66.

Shares of Tuscon, Ariz.-based Ionatron, Inc. (Nasdaq: IOTN) are down even though Jim Kramer, host of CNBC’s “Mad Money” told his audience on Friday that Ionatron is the "ultimate speculative stock".  Shares of the directed energy weapon products manufacturer are down $0.13, or 2.49%, to $5.09.

Bethlehem, Pa.-based oral specimen collection devices maker Orasure Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OSUR) is down despite news this morning that its Rapid HIV test has been selected by the government in Madagascar to be the exclusive first-line provider of rapid HIV screening tests.  Shares have lost $0.03, or 0.39%, to $7.61.

Shares of Lake Forest, Calif.-based wireless test solutions provider Comarco, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMRO) are up on fourth-quarter financial news this morning.  Net income for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 31 was $2.8 million or $0.38 per share, compared with net income of $6.9 million or $0.93 per share a year earlier.  Shares are up $0.09, or 1.29%, to $6.93.

Israeli wireless technology company Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT) has gained ground on news this morning that net income for the quarter ended March 31 was $3.0 million, or $0.10 per share, compared with net income of $1.0 million, or $0.04 per share in the first quarter of 2006.  That’s above Wall Street’s expected earnings of $0.09 per share.  The stock is up $0.02, or 0.34%, to $5.96.
