Pre-market: ISTA Pharmaceuticals denied by FDA
Shares of Irvine, Calif.-based ISTA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISTA) are in negative territory following news this morning that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has rejected the company’s inflammatory eye condition treatment. The stock is down $0.05, or 0.5%, to $9.62.
Seattle-based Jones Soda Co. (Nasdaq: JSDA) reported after Thursday’s close that its first-quarter profit fell short of analysts’ expectations. The company said that an increase in revenue was offset by increased investments in sales personnel. Nevertheless, shares are up $1.29, or 5%, to $25.21.
Shares of information services provider Westwood One, Inc. (NYSE: WON) are flat despite news this morning that the New York-based company intends to put itself up for sale and has turned to investment bank UBS AG to facilitate the process. Shares are at $6.88.
Intellectual property marketing company Aware, Inc. (Nasdaq: AWRE) reported this morning that revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $5.8 million, compared with $6.1 million in the same quarter last year. Earnings were $0.01 per share, below Wall Street’s projected earnings of $0.03 per share. However, shares are up $0.05, or 1%, to $6.13.
Fort Worth, Texas-based Union Drilling, Inc. (Nasdaq: UDRL) said this morning that net income for the three months ended March 31 was $8.5 million, or $0.39 per share, compared with $7.0 million, or $0.32 per share, during the first quarter of 2006. That’s below analysts’ expected earnings of $0.48 per share. The stock is down $0.07, or 0.4%, to $16.11.
Shares of Irvine, Calif.-based IDM Pharma Inc. (Nasdaq: IDMI) are trading slightly higher after news this morning that Robert De Vaere has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective May 2. The stock is up $0.34, or 4%, to $8.36.
