Paid Internet search services provider Local.com Corp. (Nasdaq: LOCM) has been awarded a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the method of responding to enhanced directory assistance inquiries using various protocols including voice-enabled and SMS systems, the Irvine, Calif.-based company said this morning. Shares have added $2.19, or 32%, to $9.11.
Shares of Advanced Life Sciences Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADLS) are rising following news this morning that the Woodridge, Ill.-based pharmaceutical company has announced the confirmation of supplemental efficacy data from a Phase III trial of a drug for the treatment of pneumonia. Shares are up $0.13, or 5%, to $2.80.
Shares of Extreme Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) are higher following news this morning that the Santa Clara, Calif.-based provider of network infrastructure equipment has received an analyst upgrade. The stock flat at $4.05.
U.S. Energy Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: USEY), which owns and operates energy facilities that produce electricity and energy alternatives to natural gas, is in final negotiations with a candidate to fill the position of interim CEO, the New York-based company said this morning. The stock is down $0.20, or 11%, to $1.69.
Australian healthcare company pSivida Ltd. (Nasdaq: PSDV) announced this morning that on June 29, 2007, it entered into definitive agreements to raise approximately $18.0 million through the sale of NASDAQ-traded ADSs and warrants to purchase ADSs to Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE). The stock is down $0.27, or 18%, to $1.25.
Shares of Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Saba Software Inc. (Nasdaq: SABA), which provides human capital management software and solutions, announced this morning that WestLake Training and Development, Washington, D.C., is using its technology.
