Pre-market: Omnicell falls on lower net income
Shares of medication control and patient safety provider Omnicell, Inc. (Nasdaq: OMCL) were lower after this morning’s report of a decline in net income. First quarter 2007 net income totaled $4.0 million, or $0.13 per share, compared with $4.1 million, or $0.14 per share in the fourth quarter of 2006. Shares are down $0.31, or 1.41%, to $21.73.
Shares of Irish enterprise integration software provider IONA Technologies PLC (Nasdaq: IONA) lost ground after reporting a quarterly loss this morning. Net loss for the quarter ended March 31 was $2.8 million, or $0.08 per share, below Wall Street’s expectation of earnings of $0.01 per share. The stock is down $0.15, or 2.57%, to $5.68.
Scotts Valley, Calif.-based semiconductor capital equipment manufacturer Aviza Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVZA) is in negative territory despite news this morning that it has received multiple orders from a leading company in Taiwan. Shares are down $0.12, or 1.42%, to $8.31.
Shares of Bridgeville, Pa.-based Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: USAP) have moved up following news this morning that its first quarter 2007 sales rose 25% to a record $56.2 million, compared with $44.9 million in the same period of 2006. Shares are up $3.47, or 7.15%, to $52.00
Cambridge, Mass.-based biotechnology company Metabolix, Inc. (Nasdaq: MBLX) is still rising following Monday’s announcement that it will collaborate with Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) to jointly produce a family of plastics that are crop-based, sustainable and biodegradable. Shares are up $2.71, or 15.06%, to $20.70.
Shares of Iselin, N.J.-based specialty pharmaceutical company Pharmos Corporation (Nasdaq: PARS) are flat despite news this morning that its drug for molar dental extraction pain produced a statistically significant decrease in pain during a clinical trial. Shares are up $0.01, or 0.04%, to $1.51.
