Pre-market: Semitool expects Q3 loss
Semitool Inc. (Nasdaq: SMTL), which makes and installs service equipment used in the fabrication of semiconductor devices, lowered its guidance for the quarter ended June 30. The Kalispell, Mont.-based company said after Thursday’s close that it expects a loss of between $0.01 per share and $0.03 per share prior to restructuring costs of $0.01 per share. Analyst estimates were not available. Shares are down $0.23, or 2%, to $9.26.
Shares of MRV Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRVC) are appreciating on news after Thursday’s close that the Chatsworth, Calif.-based manufacturer of network equipment and services and optical components has tapped Guy Avidan as the next CFO, replacing Kevin Rubin. The stock is up $0.10, or 4%, to $2.95.
Cambridge, Mass.-based biopharmaceutical company Dyax Corp. (Nasdaq: DYAX) announced this morning that it’s pricing its public offering of 10.5 million shares of its common stock at $3.67 per share. The offering was increased from a previously announced 9.5 million shares. The stock is up $0.11, or 3%, to $3.78.
Shares of Nextest Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: NEXT), which makes automated test equipment systems for the semiconductor industry, are lower on news after Thursday’s close that the San Jose-based company announced preliminary results according to which the net loss for the fourth quarter ended June 30 will be between $1.0 million and $1.6 million, or between $0.05 per share and $0.08 per share. Analysts were looking for a profit of $0.11 per share. The stock is down $1.30, or 10%, to $12.00.
Houston, Texas-based Encysive Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: ENCY) announced this morning that it has met with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to discuss its drug for pulmonary arterial hypertension. Shares are up $0.13, or 8%, to $1.73.
