Pre-market: Volterra Semiconductor lowers guidance
Volterra Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: VLTR) expects net revenue for the second quarter ending June 30, 2007 to be lower than previously forecasted, between $18.5 million to $19.5 million, and a net loss of between $0.04 per share and $0.07, the Fremont, Calif.-based company said after Tuesday’s close. Analysts were looking for earnings of $0.11 per share. The stock is down $1.33, or 9%, to $14.07.
Shares of Super Micro Computer, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMCI) are rising following news after Tuesday’s close that the San Jose-based server solutions company has launched a new product line called SuperBlade at an expo in Taipei, Taiwan. The stock is up $0.87, or 8%, to $11.43.
Neurochem Inc. (Nasdaq: NRMX) has obtained shareholder approval for a private placement of $80 million in aggregate principal amount of convertible notes and warrants for the purchase common shares, the Canadian biopharmaceutical company said after Tuesday’s close. The stock has added $0.84, or 13%, to $7.29.
Shares of Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: ACAD) are falling despite a favorable mention after Tuesday’s close on stock market commentator Jim Cramer’s show “Mad Money” on CNBC. Shares are down $0.15, or 1%, to $12.43.
Shares of Avici Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: AVCI) are trading below the flat line on news this morning that the North Billerica, Mass.-based provider of high-speed core Internet infrastructure equipment was highlighted by Zacks Equity Research as a “Bear of the Day”, due to concerns it has limited alternatives going forward and is not an attractive acquisition target. Shares are down $0.07, or 1%, to $9.52.
Hawthorne, N.Y.-based Acorda Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: ACOR) has begun a second Phase 3 clinical study of its multiple sclerosis treatment Fampridine-SR, the company announced this morning. The study is expected to enroll about 200 subjects. Shares are up $0.65, or 3%, to $19.79.
