Russell 2000 lower

The Russell 2000 is the only major U.S. index in the red this afternoon. At 2:21 p.m. ET the Russell 2000 had shed 3.16 points, or 0.38%, to 831.59. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 45.76 points, or 0.34%, to 13,406.02.

KVH Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI), which makes communications products for the land and marine markets, has received a $1.1 million order from the U.S. military. The equipment will be used for real-time image synchronization and stabilization in military training simulator systems, the Middletown, R.I.-based company said before the start of trading. Shares are up $0.16, or 2%, to $9.05.

Greek provider of seaborne transportation and carrier services Euroseas Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESEA) has filed preliminary papers for an offering of 5 million of its shares. The proceeds will be used to purchase additional vessels, the company said before the opening bell. The stock had lost $0.59, or 4%, to $14.29.

Shares of NetScout Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT) are higher on news the Westford, Mass.-based company has raised its first quarter guidance. Net income for the quarter ending June 30 is expected to be in the range of $0.06 per share to $0.08 per share, above than previously issued guidance of $0.05 per share to $0.06 per share, the network solutions company announced before the opening. Three analysts polled by Thomson Financial are looking for earnings of $0.06 per share. Total revenue is projected between $27 million and $28 million, while Wall Street is calling for $26.21 million. Shares are up $0.54, or 7%, to $8.69.

In economic news, the price of oil is holding steady at just above $69 a barrel following news that industry giant Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS) is ready to resume exports put on hold more than a year ago due to attacks by militants.
