Syntax-Brillian appoints new CFO

Syntax-Brillian Corp. (Nasdaq: BRLC), a manufacturer and marketer of LCD and HDTVs, announced this morning that it is appointing John S. Hodgson as the firm’s new chief financial officer.

Mr. Hodgson, who will take the helm on Oct. 1, replaces Wayne Pratt.

Mr. Hodgson has been a member of Syntax-Brillian's board of directors since June 2003 and served as chair of its Audit Committee. Since 2004, Mr. Hodgson has served as a financial consultant and held positions as interim CFO at public and private technology and exploration companies. He is currently a managing partner of Wild Turkey Equity Partners, a private-equity firm catering to the manufacturing industry.

Shares of Syntax-Brillian (BRLC) gained $0.18, or 4.71%, to $4.00 ahead of the opening.
