The Bon-Ton Stores beats Q1 loss expectation, misses revenue estimate
The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq:BONT) shares are slumping after the department store operator reported early Thursday that its first-quarter loss widened to $34.1 million, or $2.03 per share, versus a loss of $29.3 million, or $1.78 per share, a year earlier. Wall Street was looking for a loss of $2.25 per share.
Quarterly sales edged down 5% to $700.2 million, compared with $737.6 million during the same period of 2007. Analysts expected sales of $715.3 million.
