Wall Street rebounds
U.S. stocks are gaining after Thursday’s steep drop, after news core producer prices stayed flat in April.
At 9:53 a.m. ET the Russell 2000 was up 5.43 points, or 0.66 percent, to 824.06. Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 52.82 points, or 0.40 percent, to 13,267.95.
Producer prices rose 0.7% in April, the U.S. Labor Department said before the opening bell. However, core producer prices, which exclude volatile food and energy costs, were flat. Economists were projecting the core producer price index to rise 0.2%.
In other economic news, the Commerce Department reported that U.S. retail sales declined 0.2% in April.
