Artificial Intelligence has a major problem.
The datacenters it relies on demand huge amounts of energy. And electric utilities are facing a huge shortage due to the AI boom.
That’s why Bill Gates is investing $1 billion in the Oppenheimer Project.
This project could fuel the AI boom throughout the U.S.

In an interview with NPR…
Bill Gates talked about AI’s massive need for electricity.
Electricity that our current power grid simply can’t provide.
That’s why he’s PRIVATELY investing $1 billion into an Oppenheimer Project near Salt Lake City, Wyoming.
As Gates says…
“The U.S. hasn’t needed much new electricity [until now] — but with the rise in a variety of things from electric cars and buses to electric heat pumps to heating homes, demand for electricity is going to go up a lot. And now these [AI] data centers are adding to that. So the big tech companies are out looking at how they can help facilitate more power, so that these data centers can serve the exploding AI demand.”
And he’s right.
For example, take a look at this chart…
It shows that datacenters use more electricity than most countries.
And with the AI boom showing no signs of slowing down…
It’s only going to get worse.
The world NEEDS more electricity.
Solar, wind and other green energy sources are great.
Bill Gates has always been a supporter of them.
But he also recognizes that they’re simply not enough to provide the electricity the AI boom needs.
That’s why he’s jumping onboard the Oppenheimer Project.
