It’s official.
Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, as well as Google-owned DeepMind and buzzy startup Anthropic have formed a new “AI alliance.”

According to a new press release…
The AI industry big boys have formed The Frontier Model Forum: An industry-led body with the goal to enforce “safe and responsible development” of AI.
As Microsoft’s president said:
“Companies creating AI technology have a responsibility to ensure that it is safe, secure, and remains under human control. This initiative is a vital step to bring the tech sector together in advancing AI responsibly and tackling the challenges so that it benefits all of humanity.”
It sort of looks like a stab at AI industry regulation.
Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t invited to the join the club.
The Forum does say that others can sit with them in the future…
… IF they’re making what the groups considers “frontier models.”
They describe this as “large-scale machine-learning models that exceeded the capabilities currently present in the most advanced existing models and can perform a wide variety of tasks.”
The AI industry is still in its baby steps.
And it’s good to see its leaders coming together.
